PARAUAPEBAS Brazil – At the largest iron ore mine in the world Vale’s Carajás mine, KLINGE recently completed a pivotal training project for Michelin Mining Account Managers. Tasked with delivering hands-on OTR tire service training, KLINGE was entrusted to elevate the expertise of experienced account managers, focusing on safety and operational excellence.
Empowering Michelin’s Team with Hands-On Expertise. Over a week in August, KLINGE’s expert trainer Cesar Pirir delivered the Tire Industry Association (TIA) ETS 200-level package with KLINGE “Mine-Spec” training in both Spanish and Portuguese. This marks a significant milestone as the first TIA training ever conducted in Brazil. The training was critical for Michelin’s team, enabling them to identify unsafe practices and spot opportunities for process improvements. This initiative also served as an invaluable experience for two new account managers.
Michelin & Vale Trust KLINGE for Training at Carajás Mine. The training was hosted in a newly constructed tire bay at Vale Carajás, a facility yet to be used, courtesy of Frederico Sa, the respected Coordinator PCM at Carajás Mine. His involvement and belief in KLINGE’s Total Tire Control Web (TTC Web) approach ensured a seamless training experience. The training concluded with the team observing a live tire mounting at the tire bay, showcasing the practical application of their new skills.
Delivering this training in a remote Amazon location presented unique challenges, but KLINGE’s commitment to safety and excellence ensured success. The ability to conduct this training in multiple languages further highlights KLINGE’s global leadership in OTR tire service training.
Small and intensive classes are a hallmark of KLINGE “Mine-Spec” training. “Our philosophy is intensive, 1-on-1, hands-on coaching is powerful…” said Cesar Pirir KLINGE’s Tire Service trainer. “… it leads to more lasting learning outcomes and cultural changes in safety mentalities of people”.
First-Ever TIA Training in Brazil: A Milestone in Safety. Michelin and Vale’s trust in KLINGE underscores the critical importance of training in the mining industry, where safety is paramount. With too many lives lost due to improper tire service practices, KLINGE’s “Mine-Spec” training programs are designed to prevent such incidents by equipping technicians with mining equipment and operation specific knowledge, hands-on coaching and skills to work safely.
