Klinge Products & Services Training

Introduction

When Tom Klinge was working as a tyre fitter he suffered from work related injuries. Tom is personally committed to gaining higher OHS for all tyre serviceman. In 1986 and 1987 Tom spear headed projects 'Priority One' and 'Tyre Servicemen Traineeship' under the then prime minister of Australia, Mr. Bob Hawke.

Tom Klinge himself received little to no formal training and knew this was not good enough.
If we don't as an industry ensure the OHS well being of tyre servicemen then we cannot expect to attract good people into the future.

Klinge & Co’s Tyre Fitting Training Programs were written to compliment the organisation’s existing products and to help tyre servicemen globally to safely combat the OHS hazards associated with the tyre fitting process.

Now stand-alone products themselves, the tyre fitting training portfolio delivers invaluable learning outcomes and is sourced by some of the worlds leading tyre management, mining, construction, transport and tyre manufacturing organisations.

We are a fully certified and recognized training organisation.

Tyre maintenance practices and training have traditionally been delivered via experienced people at the tyre shop. Training has been conducted in the main, devoid of a targeted approach and without a certification attachment or set of competency standards to adhere to. Few tyre servicemen have the opportunity to access Nationally Recognised Training Programs. In light of this, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) has long been of high concern for Tyre Servicemen, their families, and the organisation's for which they work. Far too many Tyre Servicemen experience personal injury at work with some tragically becoming statistics.

Klinge Competency Based Training / Certification MNCG1031 & MNCG1032
Competent staff consistently demonstrate the capability and confidence to complete their work tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Safety & Health Legislative & Statutory Obligations in the mining industry require…
  1.  Personnel working at mines must be trained so that they are competent
    to perform their duties.
  2.  Personnel working at mines must not carry out work tasks unless they
    are being trained and supervised or have been assessed as competent and
    authorised to perform the work.

The 2 competency standards for tyre servicemen in the national Coal and Metalliferous training packages are:
MNCG1031 – Removal and fitment of complete wheel assemblies from and onto a machine.
MNCG1032 - Strip and re-fit a tyre off and onto a rim either loose on the ground or on-vehicle.

Gaining a competency rating for these units requires candidates to demonstrate:
1. Knowledge and implementation of appropriate procedures, instructions and techniques for the efficient and effective removal, fitting and adjusting of wheels, tyres & rims in a mine site environment;

2. Compliance with site risk control, health, safety, environmental, quality and communication requirements & protocols.

The training outcomes candidates need to achieve include:
1. Raising and supporting vehicle safely;

2. Removing and replacing wheels, tyres & rims without damage or injury to personnel tools or equipment.

Course Parameters
Our training programs are nationally recognised through the AQTF (Australian Quality Training Framework) and successful candidates that gain their competency rating are issued with a Statement of Attainment as Klinge is a RTO (Registered Training Organisation, #30686).

Our course will be customised to the specific rim types of your mobile equipment on site and will cover both loose and vertical (on-vehicle) demounting and re-fitment of tyres/rims. “Live” wheel changes plus the stripping and fitting of tyres from/onto rims utilise the wheel assemblies of the specific equipment used on your site.

Our trainer/assessor works with the candidates in a routine shift situation observing, coaching and providing feedback to candidates as they complete wheel / tyre / rim maintenance training and assessment activities.
