Blake Dawson Waldron 'Inside OHS' Award 2003

 BMA Goonyella Riverside Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, entered a rim-related safety improvement project recommended to the mine by Klinge Tyre Management Consultant of Brisbane in the national 2003 ‘Inside OHS’ Competition – and won.

This project was based around Rimex Canada redesign their double gutter rim to suit a new truck fleet of super large haulers at the mine.

The panel of judges selected this entry as the winner for a number of reasons: The project was team driven, almost completely eliminated the hazard (manual handling) and provided added benefits in terms of reduced production downtime, by a staggering 80%, without incurring additional costs. The rims have now been fitted for some 2 years without problems and the initiative continues to deliver direct benefits to the mine and its tyre service personnel.

This prestigious external safety award was sponsored by the international law firm Blake Dawson Waldron.

Australian Maintenance Engineering Excellence
Award



 

 Total Tyre Control™ Software by Klinge & Co was awarded the Australian Maintenance Engineering and Excellence Award at the Institution of Engineers' 1999 National Engineering Excellence Awards.

Finalists in the National Awards became members of the Australian Engineering Achievers Group (AEAG). Members of the AEAG adhere to Best Practice in their fields of endeavour and are leaders in industry excellence.
